About The Early Bird OT

Hi, I'm Chantelle.
I'm a Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist with over 12 years of experience working with children and families within the NHS, charity sector and private practice.
Throughout my career, I've supported children with a wide range of developmental needs and diagnoses, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Developmental Coordination Disorder and Down's Syndrome, as well as children who are awaiting assessment or where no formal diagnosis has been made.
My particular interest is early years occupational therapy (0-6 years), helping families understand how their child participates in everyday activities and identifying practical ways to support their development.
I use an evidence based approach and focus on the occupations that matter most in early childhood, including:
- Play skills
- Fine motor skills (hand skills)
- Attention and regulation
- Sensory processing
- Dressing and self-care
- Feeding skills
- Independence
- Participation at home and in the early years setting
- Transitions and routines
I have extensive experience contributing to Education, Health and Care Plans and writing reports to support children within their education settings. However, I do not undertake tribunal work or provide expert witness services.
I believe parents know their children best, and my role is to combine that knowledge with occupational therapy expertise to understand what be making everyday activites harder and to provide realistic recommendations that fit into family life.
My aim is simple: to help children develop the skills they need to participate in everyday activities and to support parents in feeling more confident and less overwhelmed.
